Back to Amélie

Porthleven restaurant ready to reopen after years of disruption

Published May 12th, 2021

A restaurant in Porthleven will be reopening its doors on 17 May after experiencing almost two years of disruption.

Amélie, a popular harbourside restaurant, reopened last summer after a full refurbishment following a kitchen fire in October 2019. The reopening was short-lived due to multiple lockdowns forcing the restaurant to close throughout November 2020 and the start of this year.

Owner Sam Sheffield-Dunstan said: “We’re so looking forward to finally welcoming our lovely guests back to Amélie. The team has been hard at work in preparation and we’re all raring to go.

“We take pride in our family-friendly atmosphere, and we’re all really excited to be able to properly showcase our beautiful new interiors and Mediterranean-style menu.

“It’s certainly been a challenging few years for us here, but we’ve stayed positive and are hopeful that this will be the last reopening we’ll need to do for a long time.”

Guests can expect an informal dining experience, with the menu featuring whole-baked fish and mussels, pizzas, small plates and sharing platters, and decadent desserts – all made using locally sourced ingredients and freshly-caught Cornish seafood.

Music will play a large part of the experience at Amélie, which has a baby grand piano in the bar area used on event nights throughout the year.

Sam continued: “Amélie has always been a place for us to pair delicious food with great music, and combining the two creates something really unique.”

Amélie will be open daily from 12pm to 9:30pm, with last orders at 9:15pm. Tables can be booked by calling 01326 653653, or via the website: ameliesporthleven.co.uk.
