Public invited to see the proposed future of Newquay’s Narrowcliff

Published May 3rd, 2022

A pre-planning public consultation on the redevelopment of Narrowcliff in Newquay will be held on Wednesday 18 May at The Hotel Bristol.

Hosted by developer Salboy, the event will run from 8am to 8pm and will welcome the public for an in-depth discussion on the plans for the site and offer an opportunity to speak with and ask questions to the development team.

A presentation including the details and visuals of the redevelopment will also be made available online.

Simon Ismail MD of Salboy said: “We’ve talked about our ambitious plans to create a landmark development in Newquay and understand that many are now keen to see the details of our proposal. This public consultation is an exciting opportunity for us to show off our vision for the future of Narrowcliff, and also engage more closely with the local community.

“We want to be as transparent as possible with our plans for the site. Hosting the event in the pre-planning phase gives local stakeholders a chance to have their input before we submit a formal planning application.”

The public consultation comes as Salboy, which currently owns The Hotel Bristol, Narrowcliff Hotel and the two residential properties on the same plot, has proposed a £100 million investment into redeveloping the site.

Plans for the site currently include a new 75 to 80-bedroom four to five-star hotel, a number of residential apartments, a high-end restaurant, commercial spaces for national and local businesses and amenities including landscaped public access routes, a new 56-seat cinema and new wet leisure facilities.

This event will be the first opportunity for the public to see the current plans for the site and will present a range of information which will include CGI visuals, building material options, 3D models and various reports.

Simon continued: “The Hotel Bristol has been a great supporter of the community in its tenure and we’d like to uphold this reputation with whatever replaces it. We’re working on developing some opportunities for local community involvement, more information on which will be available on the 18th.

“Our aim for the day is to answer the burning questions around the changes coming to Narrowcliff and inspire the public with our designs. We’ve been working hard alongside the council and relevant authorities to arrive at these initial plans and we’re looking forward to sharing them with everyone.”
