Saturdays just got spectacular. Starting on 1st July, south London’s favourite boutique pubs, the majestic Avalon in Clapham and the beautiful Latchmere in Battersea will now be serving brunch.
Better still, brunch can be made ‘boozy’ and ‘bottomless’ for an additional £20. Between 11am and 5pm, order one main course and enjoy free flowing prosecco or Bloody Mary for two hours whilst you watch Saturday day segue seamlessly into Saturday night.
Hangover sufferers will hanker after the breakfast burger, a beef and sausage pattie with bacon, fried egg and mushroom in a brioche bun; a breakfast pizza topped with sausage, bacon, egg and mushroom; or the BBQ brisket on bubble and squeak, serious soakage that is also mind blowingly tender.
For those who want to start their Saturday the ‘right’ way, there’s smashed avocado with poached egg on sourdough as well as Turkish eggs, a delicious baked egg dish with tomatoes, chilli, pepper, onion and yoghurt served in a skillet.
Traditionalists will salute eggs Benedict, Florentine or Royale as well as the ubiquitous full English. Desserts even make an appearance with the likes of banoffee pie and sticky toffee pudding with lashings of ice cream. Accompany this with limitless prosecco or Bloody Mary and your weekend might just be your best yet.
The new Bottomless Brunch at The Avalon and The Latchmere – it makes getting up in the morning (or the afternoon) all the more worthwhile.
