A farmstay holiday business in North Cornwall is celebrating after being shortlisted for a prestigious national tourism award.
The Olde House, a family-run business near Polzeath, is one of four finalists in the Family Friendly Accommodation of the Year category in VisitEngland’s Awards for Excellence 2017.
The awards celebrate the best of English tourism, encouraging high standards and promoting England’s place as a world-class destination.
Set on a 550 acre working farm, The Olde House is one of only five Cornish businesses to make the final of the awards.
Jaime Hawkey, manager at The Olde House, commented: “We are over the moon to have been shortlisted for the Family Friendly Accommodation of the Year award and we all have our fingers crossed for the ceremony. We’d like to say a huge thank you to VisitEngland for the recognition and consideration.”
As part of the judging process, applicants were shortlisted and then voted for by readers of Family Traveller Magazine, with the most popular then evaluated during a mystery shopping visit. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on Monday 24 April.
VisitEngland Chief Executive Sally Balcombe said: “The awards shine a spotlight on an industry driven by the highest calibre people and organisations who deliver unforgettable experiences for visitors, raising the profile of England as a world-class destination and driving the economic benefits of tourism across the regions.
“Awards for Excellence finalists exemplify outstanding tourism talent and distinguished businesses throughout England. We received over 600 truly impressive applications this year and there’s absolutely no doubt that the finalists represent the very best in the industry. I’d like to congratulate all finalists and wish them the very best of luck.”
The Olde House is made up of 28 self-catering cottages, which sleep between two and ten people. Prices are from £580 for a seven night stay for a family of four.
