A Cornish clifftop restaurant is showcasing locally-caught lobster and other seafood with the launch of a new Sunday lunch menu, forgoing the traditional Sunday roast.
Launching at the start of June, The Terrace restaurant at Housel Bay hotel on the Lizard Peninsula is inviting guests to change things up with the summer food event named Seafood Sundays.
The menu, which will replace the traditional roast options features a delectable selection of freshly caught seafood including Cadgwith Lobster which takes the spot as the Sunday dish of choice.
Commenting, Joseph Fallowfield – Head Chef at the hotel’s two restaurants – said: “This new culinary experience celebrates the abundance of fresh seafood found in the pristine waters surrounding the Lizard peninsula. It’s the perfect way to immerse yourself in the flavours of summer while enjoying the breathtaking beauty of Cornwall.
“Whilst we of course love a traditional Sunday roast, we wanted to offer something a little more unique to our incredible position here on the Lizard this summer. We work with local fisherman Tonks from Cadgwith Kingfisher who supplies the lobster which is landed just a few miles along the coast from the hotel. It’s great to be able to showcase some of the finest food Cornwall has to offer with this new menu.”
Diners can sink their teeth into a full or half lobster prepared in three tantalising ways:
Not limited to just lobster, the menu offers an assortment of casual sharing plates for those looking to explore a variety of flavours. Diners can indulge in crispy squid with tomato jam, garlic and ginger marinated monkfish skewers, and grilled Cornish sardines, all expertly prepared by Joseph and his team.
Diners can enjoy their lobster with the sea breeze with al fresco dining, and enhance the Sunday celebrations with the hotel’s ‘Sunday Funday’ offer which includes a glass of fizz to accompany their meal for £7.
Seafood Sundays are available every Sunday between 12:00pm and 3:00pm from June through to the end of September. Due to its popularity, booking a table in advance is advised.
