A beach side food and drink destination at Watergate Bay, north Cornwall, is sending off summer with a locally-sourced, sustainable four course feast night on Saturday 3 September.
Harbour Beach Bar has launched the ‘Friends of Watergate Feast Night’ ticketed event to celebrate local suppliers and ingredients that will be foraged from the local area.
The beach bar, which is operated by Harbour Brewing, is hard to miss in colourfully illustrated shipping containers. Throughout the summer it has been serving wood fired pizzas, fresh seafood, ice cream from Treleavens, and a collection of Harbour Brewing’s beers.
Millie Watkins, head chef and site manager, said: “We wanted to create a simple menu that really showcases the incredible produce we have here on the north coast.
“The summer has been a knock out this year, and very busy, so it will be great to take a moment at the feast night to celebrate everyone’s hard work this season, bringing some incredible Cornish businesses together, and doing what we do best – making some delicious fresh food and pairing it with a glass of something chilled after (hopefully) another glorious beach day.”
Diners will be served an aperitif of weever fish, nasturtium and aioli; a starter of Watergate mussels with samphire and sourdough; a main of pork chops, salsa verde and crackling; and wood-fire peaches, mascarpone and crumble fo finish. Sides will include ash roasted potatoes , garlic Padrón peppers, smoked salt sourdough, and whipped garlic and sea lettuce butter.
The meat for the evening will be supplied by Kitchen & Co butchers in Newquay, vegetables from Padstow Kitchen Garden, fish from South West Fisheries, along with lots of local foraged ingredients which attendees can learn more about at the event.
Guests will be seated at a long dinner table for family-style dining, encouraging sharing good conversation in-between dishes. The ticketed event is £40 per person, which includes wine and the four courses. Arrival is from 6pm, to be seated at 6:30pm.
