Families are invited to experience lambing on a working Cornish farm, with weekend packages at The Olde House – a family-run farmstay near Polzeath.
On the weekends of 24 February and 3 March 2017, a two night stay in any three bedroom cottage is available for £250, with a late checkout of 6pm on the Sunday.
Around 480 lambs are expected to be born on the farm in the first lambing season of 2017. Guests can choose to join the team on the Saturday or Sunday, helping in the lambing shed, feeding the ewes, checking on the newborn lambs and perhaps witness some being born.
There will also be opportunities to help care for kunekune pigs, rabbits and guinea pigs in pets’ corner.
Jaime Hawkey, manager at The Olde House, commented: “The last few months have been pretty busy at the farm, and it’s only set to get busier as the next lambing season picks up pace.
“Our weekend packages are a great opportunity for families to step away from daily life for a weekend of fun, learning about life on the farm, and lambing. And with the late checkout, guests can make the most of every minute, but still get home in time for the new school week.”
The Olde House is made up of 30 self-catering cottages, each sleeping between two and ten people. Lambing experiences are also available for longer breaks, from £420 for a seven night stay for two people.
A limited number of cottages are still available for the Easter holidays, with extra activities taking place on the farm as well as opportunities to meet the new lambs. Prices are from £580 for a seven night stay for a family of four.
The weekend package can be booked by calling reception on 01208 813219.
Press trips can be arranged on request. For more information visit www.theoldehouse.co.uk, or to read about one young visitor’s recent trip to the farm, take a look at Jack’s lambing diary.
