In 2016, Wadebridge-based Cornish Cycle Tours launches self-guided group tours for up to 25 cyclists keen to explore Cornwall by bike.
Cornish Cycle Tours offers bespoke group packages all year round and the new Group Tour is designed to appeal to those looking for an active large group holiday, cycle club training or a team-building experience.
There are options for both novice cyclists and the more experienced. Routes range from relaxing three-day leisure tours to a 14-day trip which takes in the Isles of Scilly. Daily legs range between 16 and 72 miles and electric bikes are available to hire.
The tours can be tailored to suit each group’s requirements and luggage transfers and hotel stays are organised by the team at Cornish Cycle Tours, leaving guests free to enjoy the ride safe in the knowledge that there’s a hot shower and soft bed to look forward to each evening.
The 2016 group tour offering was inspired by a visit from 24 cyclists from Melbourne’s Whitehorse Club who took a 177-mile tour of Cornwall, taking in the Isles of Scilly in September 2015. Their collective aim was to explore both the county and their Cornish ancestry.
Highlights of their tour included a visit to a performance at the Minack Theatre, discovering St Michael’s Mount and a trip to the Isles of Scilly.
Cyclist, Russell Hick, said: “Cycling is the best way to take it all in and see the county and it’s much better than a coach. We don’t worry about the Cornish hills as we’re taking it easy – we ride or walk up.
“My tip for a great cycling break here is to just take it easy. We’ve had a pasty or two and taken in some Cornish ale!”

Cornish Cycle Tours operates 16 different self-guided tours for a variety of fitness levels.
Electric bikes are also available to hire, making it easier on the muscles for older or less experienced riders.
Daily cycle legs range from 16 to 72 miles and tours range from 3 to 14 days in length. They take a in a variety of Cornish scenery, both coastal and inland.
