West Country food heroes Rick Stein, Nathan Outlaw and Paul Ainsworth are three of the big names featured in a new cookbook being launched in Cornwall later this week.
The celebrated culinary trio are among a Who’s Who of top chefs, including Angela Hartnett, Jack Stein, Michael Caines, Nieves Barragan Mohacho, Tom Kerridge and James Martin, who’ve donated recipes to the 2017 Padstow Festival Cookbook.
It features 56 fish and shellfish dishes, meat and vegetarian recipes, and a tempting selection of desserts. It also includes a chapter on beer and food pairings, penned by Sharp’s Brewery’s beer sommelier, Ed Hughes.
Cookbook sales help fund the annual Christmas festival which celebrates its tenth birthday this year. The festival, which runs from 7-10 December, is one of the biggest of its kind in the country and attracts tens of thousands of people to the picturesque fishing town.
Padstow comes alive with celebrity chefs and plays host to more than 100 food, drink and craft producers from across the South West. The free-to-attend event also features live music, a lantern parade, Santa’s grotto, and huge fireworks display.
Festival organiser, Tina Evans, said: “We are so excited about this tenth anniversary cookbook. It’s our best one so far, filled with delicious recipes, photos, and cooking tips from some of the country’s best loved chefs.
“There are some Christmas recipes, but most are dishes that the whole family can enjoy all year round.
“We are so grateful to all the chefs who contributed to it.”
Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth, who are long-standing champions of the festival, will officially launch the cookbook at a media conference in Padstow at 11:30am on Friday, 27th October.
Priced at £12, the books are available to buy at selected locations in Padstow, by mail order from the town’s Tourist Information Centre, and at the festival itself.
