Ocean Housing builds new affordable homes for local people

Published April 26th, 2022

A new collection of one, two and three bedroomed affordable homes has been completed on the outskirts of St Austell.

19 homes at Park Trevail in the village of Trewoon have been built by leading Cornish social housing provider, Ocean Housing, in partnership with award-winning property developer Gilbert & Goode.

All 19 homes have been let or sold to local people under the shared ownership scheme, as part of Ocean’s continued effort to help tackle the affordable housing crisis in Cornwall.

Ocean Housing is currently working to deliver more affordable homes on similar schemes at Respryn Road, Bodmin, as well as other sites in St Teath and St Blazey.

The company works closely with a number of stakeholders, including Cornwall Council and Homes England, who provide grant funding to help these 100% affordable sites come to fruition.

Frances Turner, Ocean Housing’s managing director, said: “The shortage of affordable housing in Cornwall has worsened since the pandemic, so developing housing schemes like this is absolutely vital in helping meet the housing crisis many local people are facing.

“Park Trevail is a great example of how we can provide well-designed, high quality affordable homes for local people.”

The scheme was completed in early March and tenants have already started moving into their new homes.
