Rock Oyster Festival announces family and wellbeing programme

Published May 27th, 2022

Rock Oyster Festival’s family and wellbeing programme has just been released, which includes activities for all age groups to enjoy.

The north Cornish food and music festival, taking place at Dinham House from 29 to 31 July, will feature an extensive list of child-friendly and wellbeing workshops, as well as a brand new spa space for attendees to unwind.

The latest additions to the line-up join a host of internationally-recognised musicians and culinary royalty, including headliners Jack and Rick Stein, Rosemary Shrager, Gizzi Erskine, Romy Gill and Richard Bertinet who will all be sharing their expertise.

Immersive theatre and big laughs will be delivered by family favourites such as The Flying Seagull Project and Hotpotch Theatre, while Cornish survival experts Under the Canopy will teach young attendees how to build dens, light fires and master the basics of combat.

Ukulele singalongs, trapeze workshops, puppet making and illustrative draw-alongs have also been added to the programme.

For up-and-coming chefs, Rick Stein Kids’ Cookery School will be on hand for a crab taco making class, which will include how to masterfully crack crab claws. Children can also take part in a costume making workshop, and present their craftsmanship at the Secret Garden Fashion show.

After a day of eating, masterclasses and watching world-renowned chefs share tips on cooking signature dishes, adults can have a moment of tranquility in the brand new Spa Morvoren. New to 2022, the spa offers hot tub sessions, massage treatments, facials, or an hour long detox in the Olla Hiki Sauna for pre-booked visitors.

There is a full programme of yoga classes, chocolate meditation (a delicious form of meditation), medicinal mushrooms, breath work and gong baths throughout the weekend to help festival goers unwind.

For adrenalin seekers who are looking for sea-based activities, SUP adventures, coasteering, sea-kayaking and surfing excursions can also be booked.

The latest masterclasses to be added to the line-up include Adam Handling sharing how to make easy lobster pasta; how to make the ultimate chocolate cake with Great British Bake-Off’s Lottie Bedlow; and cooking over fire with Andrew Tuck.

A barbecue feast like no other will be hosted each evening by Ross Geach, once chef demos and classes have wrapped up for the day. The Padstow Kitchen Garden head grower and owner will be serving a main, with produce grown just across the estuary from the festival site. He will be joined by guest chefs, including Neil Rankin, who will be preparing a plant-based starter, Jack Stein with a fish dish, and Tom Hunt who will be creating a sustainability-themed plate.

Laura Mvula, Happy Mondays, and Passenger will be headlining the music main stage. Many more will be performing throughout the weekend, and attendees can expect sea shanties and classics from local Cornish bands, along with DJs playing into the evening.

Tickets prices:
