Summer ball to celebrate Padstow Christmas Festival’s 10th birthday

Published June 26th, 2017

Tickets go on sale this week for a special ball to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Padstow’s annual Christmas festival.

Set against the backdrop of Padstow’s picturesque harbour, the four-day festival is one of the largest of its kind, attracting chefs from across the country and playing host to the best food, drink and craft producers in Cornwall.

The black-tie ‘birthday’ ball is being held in a marquee in the grounds of historic Prideaux Place in Padstow on 16 September.

Three hundred partygoers will be rubbing shoulders with the likes of Rick Stein, a long-term supporter of the event. They’ll be treated to a welcome drink on arrival, followed by a delicious three-course dinner, and live music from Bristol-based ten-piece band, On The Edge.

Award-winning Cornish craft beer and gin will be on offer, courtesy of Sharp’s Brewery and Tarquin’s Gin, with Champagne and wine provided by St Austell Brewery.

Organiser, Tina Evans, said: “We started the festival from scratch ten years ago and it’s become one of the most successful in the region.

“We’ve had a huge amount of support from the local community and businesses, without which we couldn’t operate.

“We hope as many local people as possible will come to the ball so that we can say a massive thank you to them.”

The ball will also see the launch of the annual festival cookbook, packed with a stunning collection of 56 recipes and photographs contributed by a who’s who of some of the country’s best chefs, including Rick Stein, Mitch Tonks, Michael Caines, Tom Kerridge and Paul Ainsworth.

Priced at £9.95, the cookbook helps fund the not-for-profit festival, which last year attracted more than 55,000 people to the north Cornwall town. They’ll be on sale at the ball and selected locations across Padstow, as well as at the festival itself.

Mrs Evans added: “We are incredibly grateful for the support from all the chefs who’ve donated recipes for this year’s cookbook. We’re absolutely thrilled with the end result.”

Tickets for the ball are priced at £70 each and go on sale from June 28. They’re available from Tina Evans on 07970 861748 / [email protected]. There will be 30 tables of ten at the ball, and a total of 300 tickets are available.

This year’s Padstow Christmas Festival runs from 7 – 10 December. A full line-up of the chefs hosting cooking demonstrations at the event will be released during the coming months.
