The Bottle to host Brimoncourt Champagne supper

Published October 21st, 2021

The Bottle wine bar and deli in Newquay, Cornwall, is hosting a four course feast in association with Brimoncourt Champagne to kick off the festive season.

Taking place on Sunday 28 November, the event includes a menu curated by up-and-coming guest chef Ben Green, and each course will be paired with a glass of Champagne from Brimoncourt.

Owner of The Bottle, Toyah Marshall, said: “We’re so looking forward to welcoming Brimoncourt to The Bottle. It’s one of the most unique Champagne brands on the market, and we’re delighted that a member of its team, Diogo, will be joining the evening to talk our guests through the drinks pairings.

“Diogo came to visit us with one of our wine suppliers, Wanderlust Wines, and brought four Champagnes for us to try whilst telling us the history of the business. Alexandre Cornot, President of Champagne Brimoncourt, was previously in the Navy and was also a corporate tax lawyer before starting Brimoncourt. Given Rob is a former marine and I am a solicitor, its background really resonated with us.

“I loved the idea of an old dormant Champagne house being revived into this modern brand, bringing life and spirit to something considered to be so traditional. Their styles of Champagne are unlike anything we have tried before, so the idea of an evening dedicated to them came together.

“Ben Green was a natural fit for us when planning this event and were looking for a chef to partner with. He’s previously catered for private dining events in France, and works with the simplicity of an ingredient to create a delicious meal, which mirrors how we create our own menu.”

With nearly 20 years’ hospitality experience, from cooking outdoors over fire to inside luxury chalets in the Alps, Ben Green has now embarked on his own venture, Embers to Ash. His ethos is to create and share a simple and wholesome way of cooking without compromising on flavour and elegance.

Ben’s menu for the Champagne supper includes:

  • Tempura rock oyster, fennel and apple slaw, black pepper and honey dressing.
  • Crispy fried chicken, wet polenta, chicken jus, chicken skin butter.
  • Shellfish bisque, dressed crab, samphire, rouille, focaccia.
  • White chocolate delice, cardamom, rosewater, freeze-dried raspberries.

Tickets for the supper are £85 per person, available via The Bottle’s website.

Other Christmas events at The Bottle to get you prepared for the festive season include a sparkling wine tasting on 5 December, and a wreath making workshop in collaboration with Hayley Scott Blooms on 12 December. Both events include a glass of bubbles on arrival, and a paired tasting plate.
