British rock heavyweights The Darkness have been announced as the Friday night headliners for next year’s The Great Estate festival, taking place at Scorrier House in Cornwall from 31 May to 2 June 2024.

It’s been 20 years since the band’s Permission To Land album debuted to almost overnight success, spawning a series of hit singles including I Believe In A Thing Called Love, Growing On Me, Get Your Hands Off My Woman and Love Is Only A Feeling.

Fresh from 2023’s world tour of sold-out arenas, The Darkness will bring their unique blend of spandex-clad anthems to the prestigious grounds of Scorrier House in West Cornwall for what has become known as the most rambunctious garden fête.

Now in its seventh year, the 10,000 capacity festival is renowned for showcasing international musicians and local emerging talent. Previous headliners include Primal Scream, Manic Street Preachers, James, and Echo and the Bunnymen.

Event directors Ben Hall and Ian Whittaker commented: “We are so excited to welcome The Darkness to The Great Estate next year! Their energy and showmanship is the perfect match for the festival, and we couldn’t imagine a better band for our opening night.

“We are rapidly curating an eclectic lineup of music, theatre and entertainment, and we can’t wait to share more in the coming weeks.”

After missing out on the fun last year, Happy Mondays’ very own Bez is back for 2024, with what is sure to be an unforgettable DJ set in legendary venue Madame Wong’s House of Wrong.

The Great Estate is also renowned for its happenings across the weekend including; The Sanctuary Well Being Area, The Grand Cinematic Experience, The Zen Den, Victorian Sports Day, Wood Fired Hot Tubs, Captain Inkus Tattoo Parlour, Under The Canopy Cornwall Adventure Club, Madame Wong’s House of Wrong, The Secret Gin Garden, Talks at Teatime, a large array of immersive theatrical installations, and much more to be announced.

Super early bird tickets are on sale now, priced at £85 for the three days, including camping. Children’s tickets are also available from £20 for those aged five and over. All those under five are free.

For those looking for a luxury option, glamping packages are available including bell tents and shire huts.

Tickets are available from www.greatestatefestival.co.uk/tickets.

Additional lineup announcements will be made in the coming weeks. For more information, visit www.greatestatefestival.co.uk.
