Three Cheers Pub Co will celebrate its 20th birthday with 20 flash sales where drinks will be sold at 2003 prices, the year it was born.
The boutique London pub company, who is responsible for nine venues across the capital including The Bedford in Balham and The Avalon in Clapham, will host 20 micro parties, lasting just one hour, where Y2K prices will be all the rage again.
Prosecco will be £3 a glass, draught beer £3.50 a pint, house wine £3 for 175ml, a house spirit and mixer will be £3.80, a Moscow Mule and Cosmopolitan (for a solid nod to their 2003 roots) will be £5 and for a moment it may seem as if the cost-of-living crisis is a figment of our imagination.
Timings of the flash sales will be announced 24 hours in advance via all its social media channels @threecheerspubs. The events will take place simultaneously at all pubs, throughout June, July and August, in conjunction with all their birthday celebrations.
£20 Three Course Menu
Cost conscious customers will go crazy for the celebratory £20 three course menu which will also be available at all pubs, seven days a week, from June to August. Dishes will vary between pubs and throughout the seasons.
Enjoy starters such as broad bean, asparagus and new potato salad with soft boiled egg and romesco. Mains including pan roasted bream with samphire, spinach, brown butter and lemon as well as lemon posset with Kent strawberries and shortbread to finish.
Add a glass of Three Cheers Pub Co bespoke 2018 vintage English sparkling wine for just £5, and save over a third off your total bill.
£20 Voucher
Locals will also receive a £20 voucher through their letter box which can be used throughout the summer of celebrations. Enjoy the discount on combined food and drink bills when you spend £60 or more. You can also pick up a voucher in any of their pubs which can be used as many times as you like until the end of August.
English Sparkling Wine
No celebration would be complete without fizz. Three Cheers Pub Co has worked with Henners to create its own 2018 vintage. A bespoke blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes from East Sussex vineyards, this superb wine (which has spent four years on lees) has notes of biscuit, green apple, orange blossom and lemon Starburst. Enjoy it as an aperitif, birthday toast or as an accompaniment to fish and seafood. (£8 125ml)
Gin
With another nod to its origins, Three Cheers Pub Co has also created its own London gin. Distilled by gin wizard Dr John Walters in Great Yeldham, Essex, it features distinctive top notes of elderflower fused with juniper, raspberry, red currants, wild parsley, hawthorn, bay and pink peppercorns. Designed to be enjoyed on long summer days in its beautiful pub gardens, combine with tonic or as part of Three Cheers pubs’ birthday cocktails, Elderflower Gin Fizz or Raspberry Martini, available in all pubs throughout the summer.
(£6.80 for 25 ml and mixer. Cocktails: £10)
Beer
A pub birthday would not be complete without a bespoke brew. Three Cheers Pub Co has teamed up with long time pals, Brixton Brewery (The Rosendale in Dulwich took stock of their very first product and the love affair has continued ever since) to create an extra pale ale made with three hops (in honour of its three owners), admiral, olicana and harlequin. The result – an easy drinking session beer with citrus, passion fruit and mango flavours. (£6.80 a pint)
20th Birthday Party
On Thursday 8th June, from 6pm – 1am, Three Cheers Pub Co will host the party of parties at The Bedford in Balham. Think live entertainment, DJs, dancing, party games, 1920s Prohibition Bar and 2003 style shots, alongside cocktails and canapés.
Access All Areas tickets can be purchased for £10 (plus booking fee) via Design My Night.
VIP tickets will be available as part of a prize give-away announced on social media in May @threecheerspubs. Watch this space to win!
All Three Cheers Pub Co birthday celebrations will take place at all pubs from 1 June – 31st August 2023. For full details visit threecheers.co.uk/twenty.
Threes Cheers Pub Co Brief History:
Three Cheers Pub Co is owned by school friends Tom Peake, Mark Reynolds and Nick Fox. In 2003 they opened their first pub, The Abbeville in Clapham, close to where they all lived.
At the time, they employed 16 staff, the most popular drinks were Fosters, John Smith’s Extra Smooth, Stella, Smirnoff Ice & Australian Chardonnay. Burgers and fish and chips were their biggest menu sellers.
Today, twenty years later, they own nine pubs, employ 240 people, and customers call for Peroni, Moretti, New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc or a lovely rosé from Provence. Foodie favourites have not changed!
Each week they serve 15,000 customers, pull 17,000 pints, pour 2,000 of bottles of wine, produce 1,300 Sunday roasts, provide somewhere to sleep for 154 hotel guests, somewhere to dance for 600 clubbers and host 15 live music and comedy events.
