Tom Peake, Mark Reynolds and Nick Fox of Three Cheers Pub Co. are pleased to announce they have acquired the lease of The Bedford in Balham from hospitality entrepreneurs Karl Harrison and Scott Illman.
This is the eighth site acquisition by the award-winning south London pub group whose portfolio also includes The Abbeville, The Avalon and The Stonhouse in Clapham, The Bolingbroke and The Latchmere in Battersea, The Tommyfield in Kennington and The Rosendale in Dulwich.
They plan to keep the pub open for a number of months prior to a period of closure to allow for a multi-million pound refurbishment. Great food, beer, wine as well as comedy and live music will remain at the heart of the venue.
Three Cheers Pub Co. owner Tom Peake said: “”We are absolutely delighted to confirm we are taking on The Bedford. It’s such an iconic London venue which we have known all our lives; this represents a huge milestone for Three Cheers Pub Co. and it will be a fabulous addition to our collection of pubs.”
Karl Harrison, who has owned The Bedford since 2004, said: “It’s been a huge privilege and a responsibility to be part of The Bedford. Making the decision to leave hasn’t been easy but as I currently reside in Vancouver we felt that the time was right.
“We wanted the new owners to be people that understood pubs, had a connection to Balham and really grasped what The Bedford is about. Tom, Mark and Nick are the perfect fit and I’m delighted they will be taking The Bedford forward.”
