An idea which was sparked by a virtual wine tasting during the first lockdown of 2020, The Bottle launched onto Newquay’s foodie scene as the town’s newest wine bar and first independent deli.
After a year of going in and out of lockdown restrictions, and becoming known to the local community through word of mouth, the owners decided to instruct our PR services to help raise awareness of the French-inspired wine bar to a wider audience.
An initial three month campaign was agreed to gain publicity for The Bottle’s summer schedule of wine tasting events.
With an interesting background about how the business came around, our main objective was to tell its story, building a reputation for high quality produce and wine knowledge, as well as raising awareness of its unique offering with a strong provenance.
The Bottle had an exciting schedule of seasonal wine tasting events. We produced two press releases for these events, one focusing on the summer, and another around the build up to the festive period. We focused on its partnerships with other local businesses, as well as collaboration with professionals in the wine industry, which reinforced its news value and made it even more interesting to journalists.
Through a combination of good photography and targeted pitching, we were able to secure profile features and recipe placements in a selection of Cornish lifestyle magazines and online trade publications, including interviews with The Bottle founders Rob Palmer and Toyah Marshall.
We arranged four press trips for influencers and journalists, each sharing on social media during their visits, as well as blog and editorial write-ups following their trip. Three of the press trips focused on the Cornish lifestyle market, and one was for a well-known national food magazine. These visits allowed the writers to gain first-hand experience of The Bottle, which meant their reviews could be more personal and authentic for their audiences.
The owners of The Bottle were so pleased with our work during the three month project that they asked us to continue for an additional month so we could introduce their festive content, including more events and Christmas hampers.
